I’m Engaged! Which Vendors Do I Hire First?

July 25, 2023

You are engaged, and chances are…… you are overwhelmed! You may be the person that has had their wedding “theme” planned since childhood, or you may be the one who has never given much thought past the ring. Regardless of your mindset, taking the first step of planning your wedding is one of the hardest pieces to the puzzle of choosing wedding vendors. The truth is, every vendor has their own calendar of availability and distance they’re willing to travel; these factors will play a huge part in knowing which vendors should be booked first! With countless Weddings under our belt, we are going to share our advice on what your “next steps” after your engagement should look like to have the most successful, stress-free planning process!

  1. Your Venue

The venue that you choose will set the tone for the aesthetic of your wedding day. Whether you’re looking for a rustic, southern charm or you want an upscale, elegant vibe- your venue will determine most of these details. An important fact to note: your Wedding Date will have to be chosen based on The Venue’s availability. For this reason, it’s very important to begin venue tours immediately and secure your wedding date. Even if your Wedding is over a year out, Venues book years in advance. Securing your Wedding day date should be your priority and will allow you to have a definite date to book every vendor after.

2. Your Wedding Planner

A Wedding Planner is the key to having the Wedding of your dreams. We commit our careers to not only knowing how to seamlessly plan a Wedding Day but also knowing the ins and outs of executing yours! Wedding Planners have a repertoire of recommended vendors who are the best of the best in the Wedding Industry. Not only will your planner have all the knowledge and skills to create your dream day, but they will be able to lead you to any and every vendor needed that matches the style you are looking for! While Facebook groups and social media post can lead to a variety of vendor options, none are as credible as professional Planners who have worked with trusted vendors time and time again.

3. Your Photographer & Videographer

When the Wedding Day is all said and done, the only piece you have to take with you are the photos or video from the day. That statement alone can help anyone realize the importance of booking your photographer and Videographer. Pro-Tip: Take into consideration the editing style of every potential photographer/videographer you are thinking of and let that guide you in choosing the one you like the most! This will ensure that you will be happy with your memories captured in photos and video. Another important piece to remember is that many photographers are also booked years in advance and only schedule a certain amount of Weddings in each year!

LEIGH-ANN, BRIDE

She is thinking about things you aren’t thinking about, doing things you wouldn’t think to do, and taking care of stuff you would have lost had she not been there. The day of timeline that she created and communicated to our vendors allowed me the peace of mind that everyone knew where to be and when.
