The pressure of finding the perfect dress, having the magical ‘ah-ha’ moment, and then sizing the dress can be a lot to think about when the goal is to enjoy your Bridal shopping experience. Luckily, we have three well-tested tips to help you navigate your wedding dress shopping experience! It’s always important to ask a professional when it comes to any question you may have in your wedding planning journey. Being that we have received a variety of first-hand opinions and ideas from Brides on their dresses, makes us the best credible source for knowing what to remember when you are looking for the “one!”
1. Any Dress that has to be ordered, takes time to come in!
This is our first reminder because it is the most important one! As a Bride, you want to start your search for your dress as soon as possible. Sometimes, your dress will have to be ordered and can take months to come in. Not every bridal dress shop offers “buy off the rack” dresses. If you are in a time crunch, we recommend calling and asking the Bridal Shop: is buying the dress and taking it home that day an option or if their order & delivery time lines up with your wedding timeline. Pro-tip: when considering your order timeline, you need to buffer a few weeks after your pick-up date to make alterations if needed!
2. Think about your Wedding Day and Reception activities.
Are you the Bride that likes to dance all night long or are you the Bride that likes to do more socializing with your guest? Many of our Brides have complained about not being able to dance or even sit in their dress! Not only do you want to feel comfortable emotionally, you want to consider mobility and longevity of wearing your dress throughout the night. Whether this means making a compromise and choosing to change into a different dress for your reception or having a perfect bustle made so you can be confident in dancing all night long- it’s important to remember that being comfortable is a factor in choosing your gown!
3. Who you choose to bring shopping, will play a part in your experience!
If you have made it to tip number three, then you are ready for what we are about to say! Time and time again, we have heard from so many Brides that who they brought dress shopping was the “make or break” of their experience as a Bride searching for her gown. This can be a tough decision- do you bring all the important people in your life or do you just bring the ones who are intimately close to you? Either way, we cannot decide for you but we can give you our best insight. Bring the people or person who will not only encourage your style but who will look out for your best interest with a pure heart. The people who want you to be happiest above all and will put your wants above their own. The one’s who know how to communicate honesty kindly.
